While reading the text I found that everything flowed smoothly. The details and explanations of things were reasonable and understandable. It was long but enough to give context to the reader of every sensation and experience. I didn’t really think of Oroonoko while reading because for me it felt quite different despite both of them being slave texts. I think I felt this way because with Equiano the way he describes his experience gives you a real feel of what’s happening. Also, because it’s a direct narrative it seems to establish a sort of connection on the personal level between him and the reader. The way he writes is in a way that want to connect to the reader but not exactly feel pity for him. It is more so in a way as this is what happened in my life and how things occurred, and I would like you to know about it.
